In recent years, I’ve been fortunate to work on more projects where kids take centre stage, and it’s an area I’ve grown to love. The foundation for success often starts in the casting process, finding young performers who feel authentic and bring a natural energy to the role. The real magic, however, comes on set—drawing out relaxed, genuine performances from children is a challenge I relish. Kids have a refreshing honesty; there’s no pretence, no ego—they just get stuck in and deliver. Their spontaneity and enthusiasm often bring an unexpected spark to a shoot, reminding everyone why we love what we do.
