I started out in design, animation and post-production, so the relationship between what happens in camera and what can be created afterwards has always fascinated me. I love projects that demand a bit of lateral thinking, where the technical challenges become part of the creative opportunity. The best results come from bringing the right people together early, working out how to achieve the ambition of the idea and planning the details before we get to set. But for all the technical wizardry, it still comes down to making a film that feels convincing, with performances and storytelling at its heart.
